Things I am looking forward to doing once I am no longer pregnant:
-Flopping down on the bed. Or on a chair. Or generally making any kind of sudden, unsupported movement.
-Wearing clothes with non-stretchy waistbands.
-Breathing without pain or difficulty.
-Having a glass of Scotch, neat.
-Hopefully, being able to hear again. (My doctor promises me that my ears and my nose should stop feeling so stuffed up after the baby is born. I really hope she’s right.)
-Being able to reach my feet and pick things up off the floor.
I would add ‘sleeping comfortably’ to this list, but then I’ll have a baby to look after, and who am I kidding if I think I’m ever going to sleep again?

Not to be a spoilsport, but having spent a good deal of time caring for my demented and osteoporitic grandmother, learning to not flop before you get dementia could save you from broken bones when you are older.
I’m not sure about this, nor am I really condoning drinking Scotch while pregnant, but I’ve heard that the alcohol damage to a fetus is generally done within the first 48 hours, before people know they are pregnant. I know that when my mom started to miscarry my brother, she called her doctor and the doctor told her to drink a large glass of red wine.

I think I’ll risk the broken bones for the sake of being able to move without spending five minutes planning how to do it.
As far as alcohol goes, after the first trimester the baby has already built all of the systems that could be damaged by drinking, so it’s not like you’d be causing serious harm after that point. However, baby ingests everything that I do, and because it’s much smaller it affects it that much more, so while I could probably get away with having a glass of scotch and feeling just fine, the baby would be roaring drunk, and I just don’t want to be responsible for baby’s first hangover.

Seriously, though, you should learn to sit down without flopping/dropping. I should too. My grandmother broke her back from sitting down too sharply.

I am being serious, Tori. When I have the luxury again of being able to move without thought or pain, I intend to use it.
