The Green Room

From Hanna’s daycare report today: “Hanna completely scooted off the mat Mom set her on this morning, halfway across the room on her belly. We are all VERY impressed!!!” Mom is pretty impressed too. My strong little girl!

When I came home today, Hanna was wearing her cupcake pajamas, and Ryan was singing to her, “I’m a little cupcake, short and sweet. These are my sprinkles, these are my feet!” There was so much to be in love with, I didn’t know where to start.

Leaving Hanna on her own to figure things out is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do so far as a parent. She wants desperately to be mobile, but the only way she’s going to get there is if I put her down and let her figure out how to pick herself back [...]

Hanna has discovered how to escape from my lap. From a sitting position, she launches herself over the side on her belly, and then pushes with her legs until she hits the open couch. Sometimes she’ll just stay there on her belly and lift her head up to look at things, but sometimes she’ll get [...]

Ryan: You have a lot of socks. Me: My feet get cold! Ryan: You are a silly person. As is your feet. Me: My feet is a silly person? Ryan: Yes. So is our daughter. I think I’ve spotted who the silly person really is around here.
